Weekly Makeup Tag - Peacock

Last week I stumbled upon a weekly makeup tag that is hosted by the lovely Aqeela. If you haven't checked out her blog and don't know how her tag works, basically she does a post every Wednesday where she features a particular theme (this week was a peacock theme) and she features different interpretations of the theme from various bloggers. Then at the end of the post she states next week's theme. To be included, all you have to do is drop a comment and shoot her an email with your pictures of said theme. That's it. Totally open to anyone, which is really awesome.
To check out Aqeela's Makeup Tag, click here.
Now I've been thinking of doing a peacock inspired look for a while, so this was a pretty good kick in the pants to get it done for you guys. I don't have a tutorial for this one, but the products used will be included at the end of the post.
Products Used: e.l.f. Essentials Eye Lid Primer in Sheer; Haight, Limelight and Skimp by Urban Decay; light shimmery blue, matte white, medium red/brown (for the brows) and a dark blue eyeshadow from the Sephora Collection LE Color Daze Blockbuster makeup palette; gold shimmer eyeshadow topcoat from the Sephora palette; gold cream eye liner from the Sephora palette; Sephora Collection Long Lasting 12HR Wear Eye Liner in Black; Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes!

I hope you all enjoyed this weeks makeup tag! I have every intention of doing Aqeela's tag every week for the foreseeable future, it's so much fun! The other girls involved are crazy talented and deserve some serious props for their looks.
Next week's theme is "ombre" which should be a ton of fun. And if you want to get involved or just check out the other girl's looks, make sure to check out Aqeela's tag post, again, click here.
I would love to hear what you guys think about this look, so make sure you drop a comment below! And if you like what you see, be sure to subscribe; it totally makes my day when I see new subscribers. Til next time!

Sephora Haul

Okay, so today was totally awesome. I mentioned in an earlier post that I was going to the mall with my friend Kate, but I didn't have time to mention that our friend Shannon also decided to go on the shopping spree. And we ended up with some cool stuff!!! But we'll get into that in a moment..
I also had to attend a memorial service for a dear friend and former room mate who died a few days ago. I was only there for a short while as I had to come home early to pick up my daughter, but it was wonderful to see how many people he touched in his life. They couldn't even fit all the attendees into the venue. It was really moving.
But back to my shopping experience.. We hit up the Sephora in our local mall and I burned through my little gift card. And I think I found my dream foundation!!! I've only done swatches and need to do a more in depth review of the product, but I think this one's a winner. Yay! But I'm blathering on.. How bout some photos?
NARS Sheer Glow Foundation in Mont Blanc $44 USD
I was going to show a picture of the foundation blended in, but it's barely visible. It matches my skin tone that well. And the coverage is sheer, which is perfect for me as I have quite nice, albeit a little dry, skin.
Make Up For Ever Red Lip Set $28 USD
This 3 piece kit comes with a full size red lip pencil and lip gloss, and then you get to pick the lipstick to go with it. A red lipstick seems like the obvious way to go, but being that I already have some red lipsticks I decided to go for something totally different. And just so ya know, this is an amazing deal. The lip gloss on its own costs $18 USD, the lip pencil alone is $18 USD, and the lipstick alone is $19 USD. So if you were to buy all these products separately, it would cost you $55 USD. So $28 for the kit is AMAZING.
Make Up For Ever Aqua Lip Waterproof Lip Liner Pencil in 8C
Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Intense in 15
Make Up For Ever Lab Shine Lip Gloss Star Collection in S8
From left to right: Lipstick, Lip Liner, and Lip Gloss
Tokidoki Eyeshadow in Soya $5USD
Swatched on bare skin, no primer
I lucked out with the Tokidoki eyeshadow as it's on super clearance because the line is being discontinued. So if you like this shadow (I'll have a full review up soon!) I would recommend you scoop this up quickly.
Sephora Long Lasting 12 HR Wear Eye Liner in Glitter Black $12 USD
I kinda goofed up with the eye liner.. I was almost out of my Sephora black liquid eye liner so I figured I'd pick some up on my trek to the mall today. But I wasn't paying attention and grabbed what appeared to be my liner, but instead of being black it turned out to be glitter black. The glitter isn't too obvious, so it'll work for now. And it really is quite lovely, don't get me wrong, I just don't want all of my looks requiring liner to be sparkly. So I'm going to pop on down to the drugstore in the next few days to pick up a regular black liner. Oops.. Though I'm sure it will be a happy mistake. :)
I'm super thrilled with my new purchases and can't wait to really get to play with them. I will have full reviews up soon of all these products, though I have a feeling that I'm going to love them all.
Also, Kate and Shannon were a huge help to me when I was looking for products (specifically the foundation) and it would make me so happy if you checked out their blogs. They have lovely reviews on TONS of products, and they're super in depth. They both plan on doing haul posts, and I will have the links up as soon as they get them to me, so expect updates on this one. :)
You can link to Kate's blog here or check out her haul video here.
And you can link to Shannon's blog here  and if you want to see Shannon's Sephora haul post, click here.

I hope you enjoyed my haul post, I can't tell you how much fun I had finding things to purchase. Which item are you most interested in? Have you tried any of these products? I'd love to know, so you should drop a comment below and share your opinions. I respond to every comment and I really appreciate each and every one. And if you haven't yet, you should totally subscribe to my blog; there's a lot of good stuff coming up! Hope you all had a lovely day, but I'm off to bed now. Til next time!

Super Fun FOTD

This is going to be a quick post as I'm about to leave the house for the memorial service and my trip to the mall. But I thought before I head out I should share my makeup for the day. I'll include a product list, but no tutorial, sorry ladies but I'm in a hurry. So here we go!

Face Products Used: e.l.f. Essentials All Over Cover Stick in Apricot Beige; e.l.f. Studio Contouring Blush and Bronzing Cream; Mary Kay Mineral Powder Foundation in Ivory 2.
Eye Products Used: Limelight by Urban Decay, Haight by Urban Decay, Skimp by Urban Decay; a warm light brown shadow from my Sephora Collection LE Color Daze Blockbuster makeup palette and a soft black cream eye liner from the Sephora palette; Sephora Collection Full Action Extreme Effect Mascara in Black.
Lip Products Used: MAC Cosmetics Viva Glam Nicki (just dabbed on for a little color); Clinique Long Last Glosswear SPF 15 in a light pink (sorry, I don't remember the color name and it's not on the bottle.)
Well, I hope you all enjoyed my FOTD, I was going for something that was subdued but still colorful. I'd love it if you guys let me know what you think in the comments below. And if you haven't yet, you should totally subscribe. But I've gotta dash, there's some serious shopping calling my name. Til next time!

Oh, What a Day..

Today is going to be totally crazy. Like wow, crazy. As many of you already know, I had a friend commit suicide last week and I said I'd keep you in the loop as to what's going on. Well, tonight's the memorial service. And I'm not looking forward to it. I'm still pretty angry that one of my friends just gave up; instead of turning to one of us, his friends, he just quit because it was too hard. I know it was his choice to make, I just wish he would have talked to me, or someone, before he decided he was done. But I'm rambling..
And don't get me wrong, I'm terribly saddened by this loss, I'll miss him and I wish he was still here. I'm just angry because he didn't have to be gone.

R.I.P. Brian "Rat" Harnish
But moving on to things that are a little less depressing. Being that I am going to my friend's memorial service today, I'm going to be in town for a change. I don't touch on this very often, but I do live out in the middle of nowhere. Most of my purchases are done online as it's a 30 minute drive to any shops with a decent makeup selection. And I don't like driving, it makes me very anxious (don't know why) so I tend not to make it into the city very often. Which means that I've been holding onto a gift card for the mall since Christmas, and I have $100 to blow on makeup at the Sephora counter in JCP! And I'm actually going to be able to see the product before I purchase! I'm pretty excited if you can't tell.
I've been looking for a foundation that really works for my skin for a while now, and today might be the day I finally find it. Plus I'm pretty well out of liquid liner, which is a major bummer. And my understanding is that the clearance bin at the Sephora over here is awesome. And I am a total sucker for sale items, so hopefully I'll make out like a fox today.
On my trek to the mall today I will be meeting up with my friend Kate who blogs at Girl, Uninterrupted. She has an amazing blog full of looks, videos, and extremely in depth reviews. I highly recommend you check out her blog, and you can link there by clicking here. You should definitely send some love her way and let her know how you found her blog. :)
Needless to say, I will be posting an awesome Sephora haul post either later tonight or tomorrow, and if Kate does a haul post as well I'll be sure to link it.
But I have to go and get cleaned up and prettified for my trip in to town and cut my husband's hair. Til next time!

Just Keeping You In The Loop

I'm sure that some of you have noticed that I've started swapping some things around on my blog today. I'm attempting to make my blog a little more unique and maybe even learn some code... I'm not really particularly skilled at this kind of stuff and I have very little idea as to what I'm doing and what direction I want to go with for my new layout, so you can expect the layout to change a few times in the next week or so as I try and figure out exactly what it is I'm doing.
Sorry if it drives you crazy, but I really want to make something original that I can call my own. If you have any tips or websites I should check out to help me figure this stuff out I would be super appreciative. But either way, once I get this all figured out I won't change it up for a while, so please endure this random bit of madness with me. :)
Til next time!

Green With Envy EOTD X2

Hello again lovelies! As many of you know I have been crazy busy this week dealing with a lot of personal issues and unfortunately my blogging has suffered because of it. So after a quick nap I decided to pump out a quick EOTD being that It's been almost 2 days since I've posted anything. As I'm almost out of my liquid liner (which I have been loving like crazy lately for my winged liner) I decided to use a cream liner since I have a ton as I never use it. So everything for this eye look, outside of the mascara, is from my Sephora LE Color Daze Blockbuster Makeup Palette.
I ended up doing the same basic look 2 different ways for this one. Basically, I did one look, wasn't happy with it, and did another. Then when I was editing my photos I realized that I really liked the original look, so I decided to include both in one post as they are essentially the same with minor differences. Keep in mind that all of these colors are from my palette, so I'm not going to be going through and naming all my products. I'm just going to be naming colors as I go along. I did use Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes! for my mascara in both looks.
For this look I used a gold eyeshadow on the inner corner of my eye lid, a light shimmery green eyeshadow over the rest of the lid, and a darker green shimmer eyeshadow in the outer corner and through half the crease, blending it into the lighter green, I added a matte white eyeshadow to the brow bone, and used a shimmer white eyeshadow topcoat on top of the matte white and a small spot on the inner eye. I used a cobalt blue cream eyeliner and did a slight wing at the end. I used a gold cream liner along the lower lash line up to the tip of the wing from the cobalt liner. I used a black cream liner on my water line and finished with mascara.
This look uses the same steps as the first look except I took a dark blue/green shadow and pulled it through the crease and outer corner rather heavy and I used a black cream liner for a thicker, more dramatic wing on the upper lash line.
I hope you enjoyed these looks, the more I look at the pictures the more I prefer the first. Make sure to drop a comment below and let me know which of the looks you prefer! And if you like what you see, you should subscribe or check out KalamityJane on Facebook. I post extra pictures and updates there, as well as some blooper shots. Til next time!

Smokin Hot Eye Tutorial

Alrighty, I have another eye tutorial for you guys today. This one is a bit more dramatic than the other tutorial I did today, and this probably isn't a good everyday look for everyone. But it's totally hot. I decided to go with vivid warm colors and some dramatic liner to make a crazy awesome look. It's kind of my way of saying that I am so over this frigid weather (it's about 16 degrees Fahrenheit here and the windchill has it feeling like it's about 8 degrees) and am totally ready for the sultry, warm summer days.
And just so you know, like the other tutorial I did today, I am not going into detail on exactly what products I used. But all the eye shadows I used are from my Sephora LE Color Daze Blockbuster makeup palette. So let's get this business started!
You're going to want to start with a primed eye, then apply a matte yellow shadow over about half of the lid.
Over the outer half of the lid apply a matte orange shadow and bring it over a little bit of the yellow to help with the blending.
Now I applied a satin finish red through the crease and along the lower lash line.
Next we take a satin finish dark purple along the outer corner of the eye and pull it over the red on the lower lash line.
And now for a matte white on the brow bone and the inner eye for a highlight.
And blend it all like crazy to ease any harsh lines.
Now take a black liquid eye liner and do a dramatic wing. My liner is almost empty, so please excuse the somewhat patchy liner. :(
To finish the look, fill the brows, curl your lashes, apply a black mascara, and run a black pencil liner over your water line.
I hope you enjoyed my smokin hot super sultry summer time look, I was pretty pleased with it. Feel free to leave a comment and let me know what you think, or if you want to know what products I used to create the look. I read and respond to all my comments, and I really appreciate it when you take the time to let me know what you think or ask questions. And if you like what you see don't hesitate to subscribe! I'm putting out new stuff all the time and I'm sure you don't want to miss it. Til next time!

Almost Natural Eye Tutorial

Hello again lovelies! Today I decided to pump out some tutorials for you guys. I've been doing a lot of EOTD stuffs instead of tutorials as they are so much easier and quicker for me to do, but I figured the tutorials were probably preferred by my readers so here we go.
Today's eye tutorial is an almost natural look, it's very wearable and subtle; perfect for an everyday look. I'm not going to get into the specifics with my products as I go through the tutorial, but just so you know all the shadows and the liner for this look are from the Sephora LE Color Daze Blockbuster makeup palette. Now let's get this started!
I started with a light neutral/gold shimmer shadow over the entire lid.
Then I worked a shimmery copper shadow through the crease.
Next I worked a darker brown shimmer shadow through the outer corner of the eye.
I then patted a matte white shadow on the brow highlight and on the inner eye.
Then we blend, blend, blend to get rid of any harsh lines.
Now it's time for liner. I used a metallic brown/bronze cream liner with a slight wing.
And finish with mascara. I would recommend using a brown/black mascara, but I used black in this picture as my brown/black mascara is really bad. I also filled my brows, depending on your brows you may not need to fill them. And if you have a nice white liner, it would look lovely on the water line.

I hope you enjoyed my step by step tutorial and the finished product. I think it's a lovely and subtle look that would be perfect to wear to work or out shopping. As always, feel free to drop a comment below; I do read and reply to all of my comments. And if you like what you see, please subscribe, it totally makes my day. Til next time!

Quick Update

Okay, I'm going to keep this post short. There have been some unexpected tragedies affecting my family and friends this past week. On Valentine's Day one of my acquaintances lost her battle with cancer. I didn't hear about it until the day after, and it really caught me off guard. And then the day before yesterday I received a phone call and one of our close family friends was found dead. It looks like suicide, but nothing has been confirmed as of yet.
I haven't heard anything about when and where the funeral and memorial services are going to be, but needless to say I will be attending them and will be very busy with my friends and family during this time of sorrow.
I'm going to be posting as much as I can up until the services, so you can expect multiple posts a day for the time being. But during and after the services I will be absent from blogging so I can be there for my friends and family. I don't know how long I will be out of action, but I thought you guys should know what's going on over here.
Sorry to lay it on so heavy so early, and I hope you all are having a better time than my family and friends are currently. Til next time!

Deep Fried Biscuits

Okay, I'm doing things a little differently today. I know this is a beauty blog, but today I made something that really rocked my socks and I just had to share it. Before we get too involved here, let me say that nothing about this is healthy. This is just a yummy treat that I made as, well, a treat.
My dad recently gave us a deep fryer, and I needed to experiment with it. I love cooking and I've never really had a chance to play with a deep fryer, so I wanted to have some fun. I didn't have a lot to work with as most of the food stuffs I keep in the house are pretty healthy and don't really mesh well with a fryer. After pondering for a while on what I could deep fry, I decided to totally wing it and deep fry biscuits. And, well, it's awesome. So awesome that I thought I should share the recipe with you guys. :)

Deep Fried Biscuits
Ingredients:
2 cups all purpose flour
1 Tablespoon baking powder
a dash of salt
1/3 cup of margarine
3/4 cup milk
1 teaspoon each of rosemary, oregano and thyme
a handful of shredded sharp cheddar
(I eyeballed the spices and cheddar, so just do what looks good to you)

1. Combine flour, baking powder, spices and salt in a large mixing bowl; mix well.
2. With a pastry blender (or a fork if you're really careful) cut in the margarine and mix well. You want it to look kind of like breadcrumbs.
3. Mix in the milk all at once and stir til combined.
4. Fold in the cheese. Make sure the cheese is evenly distributed, you don't want some of the biscuits to have a ton of cheese while others have none.
5. Pinch off bits of the dough and roll them into little balls, you want them to be about 3/4 of an inch in diameter.
6. Once your deep fryer is hot, add the balls to the oil. Let them cook for 2-3 minutes or until floating and golden brown. Make sure that you stir your balls a couple times while you're cooking to keep them from sticking together.
7. When you remove the balls, set them on a platter (or in a bowl) lined with paper towel to absorb excess oil. Then wait a few minutes and dig in!!!

These should come out nice and crispy on the outside with a soft, fluffy biscuit center. And these are best when served warm, though they are still good at room temperature. Just not as good.
And do remember to be safe while deep frying!!! Don't overfill your fryer or anything; deep frying can be pretty dangerous if you aren't careful.
I hope you liked my random little recipe. Feel free to drop a comment below and let me know if you've ever done something like this before. And if you like what you see, don't forget to subscribe or like KalamityJane on Facebook. Til next time!!

Easy EOTD

So I tend to do a lot of over the top EOTDs and I thought today I'd switch it up a little and do something a little lighter and more wearable. I did go a little crazy with my eyeliner, but I have just been loving the winged eyeliner lately. If you want something a little more subtle just tone the eye liner down a little or use a cream/pencil liner and smudge it out. So without further ado, here is my easy EOTD.

Products used: white eyeshadow from my Sephora LE Color Daze Blockbuster Makeup Palette; Pearled Earth from the MAC Cosmetics Eye Shadow x2; Urban Decay Rockstar; Sephora Collection Long-Lasting 12HR Eye Liner in black; Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes!; and e.l.f. Essentials Brightening Eyeliner Pencil in black.

For this look I applied the colors very lightly and blended them like crazy. I was really just going for really light wisps of color.  This is how I generally do my eyeshadow when I'm going out, though I do darken up the colors for evening wear.
Well, I hope you guys enjoyed this look, and as always feel free to drop a comment below. I love reading what you guys think about my posts. And if you really enjoy what I do here, please subscribe. Til next time!

Random Update

Okay, just keeping you guys in the loop here, but my computer is being super crazy today and I think it might be getting ready to fail on me again. I think it's the hard drive, AGAIN, so if you don't see me for a little while my computer is with my dad being fixed. My dad is so awesome, he always keeps my computer running. But he lives a couple hours away, so it takes a week or 2 for me to get my computer back from him.
I did get my computer working again all on mine own today (obviously) by restoring my data so I might be in the clear. I'll try and get some posts out before my computer dies for real, and hopefully this won't keep me out of commission for too long. Til next time!

EOTD - Feelin Pretty

Hello again lovelies, today I have for you a very pretty, very girly, totally wearable eye makeup look. I'm not doing a full tutorial for this one, but basically, I took a light pink cream shadow over my eye lid and then put a light shimmery pink on the inner corner of my eye, a darker pink on the outer half of the lid, a medium purple through the crease, matte white for the brow highlight, teal on the lower lash line, winged eyeliner, and mascara.
Products used: All eyeshadows were from my Sephora LE Color Daze Blockbuster Makeup Palette, the eyeliner is Sephora Collection Long-Lasting 12HR Wear Eye Liner in black, and the mascara is Sephora Collection Full Action Extreme Effect Mascara in black.
And if you're wondering what's up with my eye brows, it's some remnant black from yesterday's Monarch EOTD. Whatever, that look was awesome and so worth some funky brows for a day.
I hope you like the look, and feel free to drop any questions/compliments/critiques in the comments below. I do read and respond to ALL of my comments. And if you like what you see, please subscribe. It makes my day when I see a new subscriber. Til next time!

EOTD - The Monarch

I was feeling a little creative last night and decided to start playing around with my makeup. I was thinking about doing a peacock inspired look as I have a TON of blues, greens, teal and gold, and it just wasn't coming together how I wanted it to. Then I wonkered up my eyeliner, got mad and ended up coloring my entire lid black. This look stemmed from that, and it really reminds me of Monarch butterflies. I'm not doing a full tutorial, but basically I sketched the design out with my eye liner and filled it in with a black shimmer powder and filled the empty space with yellow orange and gold.

Products I used: Sephora Collection Long-Lasting 12HR Wear Eye Liner in black; e.l.f. Essentials Brightening Eye Liner Pencil in black; the matte black, black with blue shimmer, yellow, matte white, and orange eye shadows from my Sephora LE Color Daze Blockbuster Makeup Palette; both the gold and the white shimmer eyeshadow top coats from the Color Daze Palette; Clinique's High Lengths Mascara in black.

I had a ton of fun doing this one, and was quite pleased with the way it turned out. I do see a few spots in the brow that I didn't fill properly, but the lighting in my living room is pretty awful for doing makeup so I was pretty surprised the look turned out well at all.
I hope you guys enjoyed this look as much as I did, and feel free to let me know what you think in the comments. And don't forget to visit KalamityJane on Facebook, I post additional pictures there and it's a great way to get a hold of me. Til next time!
